CHASING RAINBOWS

You’ve heard the saying, “when it rains, it pours”. When we seem to want to make changes in our life, life seems to get chaotic. Even though the changes are to better ourselves and our loved ones, it still seems to create “storms” around us. Let’s face it, people don’t like change. Humans are creatures of habit and need structure and stability. But as we are finding in the world today, things can change in the blink of an eye and there is no way you can prepare for it.
In my past I loved stability and comfort, routine was my friend and change was my enemy. But in 2008 the Universe decided it was time I learned how to deal with change. So I became increasingly unhappy in my career and in my relationships. So much so that I left a well paying, “cushy” job to pursue my passion of helping and guiding others. Believe me, it was stormy time for me. My mind was in panic mode the whole time as I took action on what my soul was guiding me to do.
At any moment during that process it would have been so easy for me to turn back on that path and just stay in the comfort zone. But I decided to remain focused and trust in what I knew was right. I’m glad I did because through that time of instability and financial fear, I found my rainbows. I have never felt so mentally, emotionally and spiritually fulfilled as I do now living and working in my purpose.
Just recently, I was driving in the most torrential thunderstorm. It was pouring rain and I couldn’t even see the vehicles in front of me. For some reason I wasn’t scared or worried. I just knew I get home safe and sound. In fact I was enjoying the drive and listening to some relaxing music. As the storm dissipated and the skies began to clear, the most remarkable image came into form. In the sky above I saw a magnificent double rainbow and it fully arched over the entire sky. This was definitely the most amazing rainbow I’ve ever seen. All of the sudden, through the grayness of the sky, came this magical and whimsical glow.
It was as if the Universe was rewarding me for being fearless throughout the storm. At this moment, I realized that I wouldn't see the beautiful rainbows unless I go through the storms. I learned that if I face my fears and trust that everything will be ok I will find happiness and joy.
So when there are storms around you and everything feels like it’s going to fall apart or away from you, don’t hide from it. Instead, embrace it, feel it, smell it, dance in it, BE a part of it! You will find that it wasn’t so bad after all. Once the wind dies down and the rain stops, look up and around and you will find your rainbows. This is when you find peace.
